Enjoyed our stay!
We booked thru Travelocity so we were not sure what to expect. We found the the hotel staff very accommodating when we arrived. It is an older motel, but clean and beautifully designed with an inner courtyard. As a professional home maintenance and carpet cleaning Professional, I was thrilled to see that we had a room with hard floors. Later I had a chance to talk with the owner Suzie,and found that they have recently renovated all the rooms and put similar floors in.and they have a room service that cleans then daily. They do a good job! In my line of work, I can’t miss that! I will definitely plan my next visit to include staying at Imperial inn.
It is also located just a few blocks from the BART station, so it was also very convenient after flying into Oakland airport.

Budget Hotel, in scary part of town
Pros:Inexpensive, not too far from downtown Berkeley.
Cons:The bathroom door in our unit was water logged and did not close. It needs to be replaced. The TV was stuck in zoom mode, so news tickers were cut off
Location:Near Fwy. Near University. Near Carl's JR.
The amount of homeless wander the streets near this location was staggering. There are security guards in the fast food restaurants (carl's jr) and the drug stores (cvs). This place is lit up at night like a runway at an airport, and there are security cameras and a gate. Must have weekly rates too though, as there were people who seemed to be living here instead of stopping by.
Imperial Inn offers its guests a terrace, a vending machine, and coffee/tea in a common area. WiFi is free in public spaces. Imperial Inn also features complimentary newspapers in the lobby and a television in a common area. Free self parking is available.
