Pretty good value

OK this was not my first hotel choice in the Abingdon / Oxford / Newbury area but it turned out better than expected. I didn't need breakfast and the lowest price room is still very large and comfortable. It was a good value. The fitness center is very good / well equipped. The lounge is large and friendly and pretty busy. The wine is a good value. 2 things I don't like: 1) have to pay 3 pounds per day for parking. There are acres upon acres of open farmland around, do they really have to charge for parking? 2) internet cost is a rip-off at 15 pounds per day or 75 pounds per week. They don't disclose the price of the internet on their web site - only indicate that 'every room is equipped with high-speed internet access'. I stayed for 2 weeks but wasn't about ot spend 150 pounds for 2 weeks of internet access. Aside from these issues, I found the staff to be friendly, cheerful and attentive. The rooms are not only large but pretty quiet. No air conditioning, of course, but that's not required except for a few of the hottest days of the year. I've been to Oxfordshire and West Berkshire numerous times and would stay here again.
