Decent

Cons: Chemical cleaner smell in bathroom
Impressive looking from the outside, but the inside could use some work. The bathroom smelled like some really strong chemical cleaner. I am glad it was clean, but the smell was awful. And it never went away during our stay. So glad we had only one night there because the smell made me nauseous. We asked the reception staff for a recommendation for a Scottish pub and they said there weren't any pubs around but gave us two restaurants. I checked the menu of one restaurant and it was way fancier and pricier than I wanted it. So we went to the other restaurant. Again, way too fancy for our liking. But on the drive to the restaurant we found 3 different pubs. So not sure why reception told us there were no pubs and only recommended these overly fancy restaurants.

Charming Highland Hideaway

Pros: The facility's charms and the helpful staff
Cons: I had no complaints with my room in the new wing, but was informed that the plumbing in the old wing was a bit... temperamental.
Driving up to The Newton after dark, with fog settling in, the hotel's facade made quite an impression. After checking in we met down at the bar, where David helped us choose our drinks and couldn't have been more helpful. Finding out about the hotel's ties to Charlie Chaplin only added to the charm of the setting and, the next morning, having the opportunity to hang out and photograph the on-premise highland coos rounded off a memorable experience.
