perfect view and helpful staff - thoroughly enjoyed the massage and spa facilities - dinner was not great - service was slow especially when it came time for the check and the steak I ordered lacked flavor and tenderness - enjoyed having lunch and relaxing on the pool deck - delightful staff

Surprised by some things at the Fairmont

Pros: Location in terms of proximity to casino and to Starbucks. Both are within walking distance.
Cons: Cleaner rooms, get rid of 10 euro per day internet access fee, get in concierge that enjoys communicating with guests.
Location: Visit the gardens, the casino, the museums, the palace. Take the bus everywhere, it's very easy and affordable to do this.
There were a few surprises about the stay at this hotel. Given that it is a luxury hotel in the heart of Monte Carlo, I was surprised to learn that we'd be charged 10 euro a day just to use internet WiFi. Also, the carpeting in our room had a rather large stain in it. The hotel staff were confusing regarding how to get to different places and the concierge was dismissive and unhelpful, both in French and in English. I read through their materials while I was there and they indicated there was a room fee just to have use of an empty mini-fridge. I felt like the hotel was nickel and diming their guests and that it did not reflect well on what I would expect of such a well known hotel. I've been to Monte Carlo before and stayed at Le Meridien last time. We returned to Monte Carlo at the end of this trip and stayed at Le Meridien again and both times it was a fantastic hotel experience. I was shocked that the Fairmont didn't even come close.

I am pleased to read that you have enjoyed the location of the Fairmont Monte-Carlo, however, I have taken notice of your comments concerning the minibar item’s prices and the attitude of the staff. I can assure you that we strive to deliver a high quality of service to all of our guests. Please note that the poor level service is not the high quality standards the Fairmont Monte Carlo prides itself in providing our guests and this is why we are very concerned about your comments. Unfortunately, given the anonymous nature of Expedia pseudo names, it is difficult to investigate and to give you a proper answer concerning your stay. I have however taken notes on your comment and wish to mention that the hotel wend through a major renovation from 2005 to 2009, including all sea side facade rooms, public places and restaurants. Our last renovation was the Nobu Restaurant in 2014, along with some banqueting function room you may not have used during this stay. With regards to the internet connection, kindly note that WiFi is complimentary for all Fairmont President’s Club members and we invite you to enrol for free, on line or during your next stay with us and you can benefit of the different advantages the membership has to offer.
