"Location - Perfect / Grounds - Beautiful"
The hotel is located in the Mission Beach / Bay area and was perfect for exploring the area and enjoying both the ocean and having more quiet time on the bay. The grounds were beautiful and while the rooms were a tad dated (as others have noted), we enjoyed our stay at The Catamaran.

"Great hotel for visiting San Diego attractions"
We (me, wife and 2 small kids) stayed at this hotel for the duration of our 5-night stay in San Diego, CA. The hotel was selected because it was the best rate within close proximity of attractions. We were very suprised for what the hotel offered at the price when compared to others in the area. We have NO complaints. Parking was free and abundant, breakfast was included and was more than sufficient for us, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. After a few days we need to do some coin laundry - their machines were updated and worked great. Location - short drive into downtown area, 2 minutes from Mission Bay Park, 10-15 minutes from the zoo, Coronado and sea world. 30 minutes from LegoLand in Carlsbad. 5 minutes from beaches. When we return to San Diego we will absolutely stay here.

"Bahia is its own destination "
Everything about Bahia was wonderful: welcoming staff, excellent perks, great facilities and location. Our late-night arrival (w/ 2 sleepy kids) could have been difficult, but the friendly and helpful staff ensured we had everything we might want even though they were quite busy. We were upgraded to a suite in building 6 -- some outside noise one night, but well worth it for the beautiful beach view and extra space over our whole stay. We had a great time, and want to come back just to experience the resort itself!

"Right next to Sea World"
Some of the rooms have a bit of a walk to get to but the beautiful San Diego weather makes it worth while. The onsite restaurants had great food. We walked a little over a mile and were at the beach

"Nice Hotel Close to Everything"
I've read a number of reviews on here about resort fees at this hotel being ridiculous. While we had some problems with the internet service (was not available at the pool and was fairly weak in our room), this additional cost is clearly outlined on their website and in the booking details before you book the room. So, please ensure you read all the details in advance. Our stay was quite nice. As Canadians, we may expect a little more in the way of courtesy from the employees. They were not rude in any way; however, they also weren't overly pleasant. For example, our lunch was brought to the table with no introduction and just a quick "ham sandiwch?".... "quesadilla?" and he was off. Not even a question of whether or not there was anything else we needed. So, my advice to the resort is to work on those additional pleasantries. Overall, the location is great. Easy access to airport, Seaworld and Ocean Beach. There is a shuttle service that will take you to OB or the airport for about $20 (the airport, worth it -- for OB, cab is cheaper). I highly recommend upgrading to a harbour view room. The standard rooms are in a tall structure RIGHT beside the highway. Our harbour-view room was quiet and relaxing, and just steps from the water. It also allowed us to watch the fireworks from SeaWorld quite easily from our balcony. It was very nice.

"Nice hotel grounds, room could have been better"
Upon arrival, the grounds looked very lush and well kept.Check in was a breeze and Rich at the front desk was extremely helpful and accommodating. The room we were given 1st, had a pocket door to the bathroom that was off track. An engineer was sent out right away to see if it was repairable. It was not, so we were given another room. The size of the shower/tub room was pretty small.I have 2 girls to bathe and we barely had room to move around in there. Also, the shower curtain was set too high so it let a lot of water out into the sink/vanity area.I wondered how the base boards got so water damaged. The room door when closed properly, didn't line up with the dead bolt so you had to pull the door back into the room in order to lock it.

"A very good choice . . . ."
Hotel was clean and staff were all excellent.  We had heat problems in our initial room.  We had to have blankets to be comfortable in the room because the AC was so cool.  Engineering was called in and it was couple of days before a Manager moved us to an upgraded room for the rest of our stay.  Excellent service from Front Desk, Concierge, Valet Parking, etc.  We would use this hotel again.
