Customer service with a smile!!

I went on the reviews alone for this hotel. I was welcomed and treated well. Room was comfortable and clean! The front desk clerks were awesome and when I extended my stay by another day, they even moved other reservations so I didn't have to change rooms. I will stay there again. Wifi was a bit slow but worked.

Pleasant Suprise

Pros: Free breakfast, Quiet
We stayed here for one night because hotels were much cheaper in La Porte than Kemah. We were a bit apprehensive after finding the hotel from outward appearances but the room was fantastic. It was very large, comfortable, and quiet. We would definitely stay here again.

The low cost alternative

Pros: Close restaurants
Cons: Poor breakfast
In town for an event, I booked a room with 2 queen-sized beds. The motel itself is just off the freeway so it's easily found. For a weekend, the parking slots were pretty plentiful although dimmed slot lines resulted in cars unintentionally parking pretty much haphazardly. So a slot close to the sole entrance on the north end might not be available on account of 2 cars parked too close to allow one to slip in between them. The staff that weekend consisted mainly of the nice lady serving as the check-in clerk, and maybe 1 other person who accompanied her in the morning. I did see a cleaning cart in the slooooow moving elevator but no other signs of a cleaning staff, beyond the usual made beds & replenishing of little wrapped soaps. The clerk was very approachable and was a plus. The room itself was generally clean, although the shower's faucet ran all weekend. Not enough to bother me once I had the bathroom door closed but others may not feel the same. I found an unidentified sticky spot at the foot of one bed, likely where a wad of gum once sat. That it was still sticky was discomforting since I didn't know how long ago that wad sat there. Towels were pretty thin so I was glad to have packed my usual towel from home. TV reception consisted mainly of the local affiliates and maybe 3 or 4 cable channels. While some Internet access was available, it took 2 tries to get a connection, and even then you're probably better off with trying to do no more than check your e-mail as an attempt to look at YouTube videos eventually failed after 15-20 minutes of waiting. The 'continental breakfast' consisted of 2 choices of dry cereal; presumably L'eggo waffles; bread for toast and your choice of milk or juice. That these 2 drink choices were kept in lone, gallon jugs, emptied down to the last 3rd of the jugs, in a minifridge, made me hope some previous guest hadn't opted to take their fill by simply drinking directly from the jugs! Overall the stay was pleasant, definitely not as harsh as some other places I've stayed at over the years, but definitely a prime example of getting what you paid for. Being only a few blocks from the town's main eateries and minutes from local attractions, its in a nice location. And while I wouldn't recommend it as a 1st or 2nd choice, it will do when in a pinch and in need of low-cost lodgings.

Nice hotel, but needs some work.

Pros: Free breakfast, Free Internet
Cons: Nothing close, Noisy
Even though this hotel was clean, I rate this as only a nice hotel because it does need some maintenance. My room was noisy because it was the closest room to the freeway and I kept hearing cracking when I walked in the tiled bathroom floor.

Among our all-time favorite hotels for traveling - a real find!

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, spacious and clean, friendly welcoming staff, nearby shopping, super rate
My daughter and I were in the area visiting my son and daughter-in-law and my brand-new grandson, and were looking to find a hotel that would reflect the local southwestern flavor. We couldn't have found a better place to accommodate everything we were seeking. The room was huge, with two queen-size beds that seemed more like king-size, with enough tables that we could each have our own space; a voluminous dressing area with a mirror that spanned one whole wall; and an extremely attractive western decor which included a super-large ceiling fan. I was able to easily set up my computer on one of the bedside tables, along with one of the comfortable chairs provided. The breakfast room felt welcoming with a real down-home atmosphere. The staff was comfortably friendly without being intrusive. All in all, our stay was a marvelous experience, with just the right touch of intimacy and comfort. We couldn't have felt more at home. The Garden Suites La Porte will definitely be our first choice anytime we are in the area.

The only place I stay when coming in town!

The best rate for the buck. Rooms are much bigger than hotel rooms around town, which i have stayed. Keep it up.
