The best thing about the Aston at Poipu Kai is the proximity to the beach; it is an easy 1/4 or so walk. The property is dated and we did not find it to be clean. There was sand all over the washing machine and caked in gooey detergent. There is not more 3 minutes of hot water no matter what time of day it is either. While the staff responded to our concerns and sent maintenance; the hot water issue was not resolved. The maintenance staff was friendly and efficient but the front desk staff was brusk.

Great place! Great staff! Love ASTON will always use them. Some updates could be made to the rooms. But that cost a lot of money. Money that would have to be passed on to us, the vacationer! Great access to POIPU beach!

Location, location, location!! Easy walk in one direction to Brennecke Beach and in the other direction to Shipwreck Beach. The property has a great paved walking path that is wheelchair and stroller friendly.

Great Location. HOT. Little Privacy...

Pros: Well equipped. Great view. Perfect location.
Cons: Air conditioning! Repair the hot tub. Better care of the outside grounds... Privacy! Especially for the bedrooms!!!
Location: You can walk to just about anywhere you would like or need to go. Swim, shop, dine.
Let me start with the upsides: This condo is ideally located to just about every amenity Poipu has to offer. We loved sitting on the lanai for coffee with the ocean view and walking to Poipu Beach everyday. We saw monk seals, manta rays, turtles, and a ton of fish. Great food options as well to dine out or stay in. The kitchen was well equipped and nice updates to the bathroom as well. Furniture was quaint, dated, but comfortable. Tons of pools. Downsides: Seriously, no AC and EXTREMELY HOT day and night. Two little fans did nothing to help. There was little to no privacy. We were situated between two walking paths and a parking lot. With the slats at the bottom of each exterior wall, you can hear EVERYTHING and I would take a guess they can hear everything inside as well. the hot tub was falling apart and even had several tiles missing... The flower tree outside had been losing leaves and buds for many days and was never cleaned up. Definitely a musty smell around the grass area.

2 bedrooms don't sleep 6

I booked a 2 bedroom condo so we would all have beds. They advertise these units as sleeping 6 due to the sofa bed or futon they have. When we arrived and found that ours didn't have the sofa bed we asked to switch units so my 15yr old son wouldnt have to sleep in bed with his mother or sister. The first man working said they had a unit and he just needed to check with his manager. When she came out, she said they were full and offered us a pad on the floor but said she would have them deliver a roll away bed the next day. They were far from full and never delivered the roll away bed. So my son spent the week on the floor. That's fine for camping but not when you pay big money at a resort. I am very disappointed and will not return and this is unfortunate because we have stayed there 5other times. Also the dirty dishes and cockroaches in the bathroom were a bit much. We will not return. It wasn't a good bucket list experience.

Nice

Our room was not as new like other rooms, my sister also stay at Aston and their room was modern and furniture new and mine was like a motel room type of furniture, but overall we had a great time.

Home away from home

Pros: Decor, comfort, spaciousness, staff, location. The grounds are lush, the parking ample.
Location: Poipu and Koloa are small - it's easy to walk to some restaurants and businesses and to drive to all of them.
We got a great deal on this condo resort. The staff at the office were efficient, kind and helpful. The rooms were clean and modern, and having a livingroom, dining room, kitchen and laundry were great. We also appreciated the beach towels and beach gear that were available to us.

Terrible, terrible, terrible

We booked Aston at Poipu Kai based on photos on the web and brochures ... what we got was a place from the 70's or earlier ... mold, old, musty, miles from the beach, no view, nothing. After complaining to the "person" on duty SEVERAL times, the manager who lives in Florida was called and we were given a "villa" ... ha ha ha ... villa indeed ... more mold, no air conditioning, miles from the beach ... STILL NO ASTON AT POIPU KAI like in the brochures and web site. This was shameful. They kept saying they gave us such an upgrade with the "villa" ... pleazzzzzzzzzze. This is a total misrepresentation and should be against the law. People pay good money to come to Hawaii based on the advertisement in the brochures and web only to find a total mess which is fixed by another mess ... and ... I am going to write this review on every site I can find so other people don't make the same mistake. May even let the HI Tourist Board know how misleading the Aston website is ... shameful.

This condo is great and close to the famous poipu beach

Pros: Close restaurants, Quiet, close to everything, extremly clean, wonderful place to stay, both beds were wonderful
This was our 2nd yr to stay at Poipu Kai. We were so happy that they fulfilled our request for ground floor and near the pool I have a knee problem and stairs are very painful for me. Everyone at the office is great and they work very hard to make your stay a great one. It has a huge pool which is hard to find in Hawaii. The grounds are immaculate, the rooms are clean and all the housekeeping and grounds maintenance folks are great and make sure you have what you need. When we return to Kauai next year we will be staying again with Poipu Kai. We took time to look at other properties in Kauai and none even came close to price or amenities. It was quiet and very comfortable, just a wonderful away from home experience. After the reservation is made and they get confirmation you can call the front desk to check on it and confirm yourself any needs, they were great.
