Wonderful resort, the staff is excellent, the room views are breathtaking. If you are looking to relax and enjoy some peace and quite, this is the place for you. We loved our terrace with the infinity pool and day bed. The food is exceptional well prepared. No detail was over looked during our stay.

From the time we pulled in the driveway of the resort until we left 8 days later it was AMAZING . The staff make the Cala De Mar the success it is. When we checked in the front desk , housekeeping , waiters, the entire staff make us very comfortable and every request was met with a smile. We will return !

Great staff, no beach, only one pool

Pros: the view and staff
Cons: GET A BEACH AND CHEAPER PRICES
Location: There is nothing to do nearby, the town does not offer decent places to eat or entertainment
Difficult to get around, nearest public beach 26 mins by bike. Private beach 45 mins. Although ad says 2 pools it is actually one pool in the shape of an 8. Everything was a la carte and very expensive, it was more NY City prices and not great deals that one finds in Mexico. Fish dinners extremely expensive. Slime would settle on the ocean in front of hotel every morning and would linger until late afternoon. NOT WORTH THE PRICE.

Absolutely Fantastic

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights in April '09. It was too pricy for us by my wife works for an airline and we got 50% off. Brand new hotel. Beautiful, oustanding service. Each room has it's own plunge pool. Very private. On a cliff. No swimming beach but they will give you bikes to ride down the hill to a public beach. Otherwise a 5 minute cab ride to Ixtapa or 30 minutes to Zihuatanejo. We stayed just before the swine flu epidemic made news. Of the 59 rooms only about 10 were full when we were there. Had the whole place to ourselves. The economy was really hurting the tourism there. Every night there was a small bucket of Coronas and chips and salsa in the room as a warm up for dinner. Staff would do anything to make your stay the best it could be. Beware you will be charged 10% gratutiy and another 18% taxes on top of the room rate. I assume this is common in Mexico at 5-star hotels. Two very nice negative edge pools on the property as well as a fitness center. We would definitely stay here again if we go back down to Ixtapa.
