Cancelled reservations 10 minutes before arrival. We had to make arrangments and contact Travelocity on our own. The replacement hotel was horrrible

My fiance and I were in town for a convention and made the reservation several months prior. When we travel, I make the reservation and my fiance pays for it. When we arrived, we were told the credit card that was used had to be in the name of the person who made the reservation. Even though my fiance was present and had his ID, he was not allowed to pay. I received an email before arriving, informing us of the requirements of check-in. This was not mentioned. The woman who checked us in was very firm. We were not going to be able to stay unless I produced a credit card to pay, with my name on it. There was no conversation or compromise. I did pay for it but it messed up our plan. We missed out on earning airline miles because we couldn’t use the credit card we intended to use. We travel together ALL the time and I have NEVER experienced that! She literally was turning us away because my name was not on his credit card, citing “company policy”. Huh??? That policy was never mentioned in the email. The property itself was fine but seem to cater to people who need it for an indefinite amount of time. It felt more like dealing with Management at a rough apartment building rather than the front desk at a hotel. It was a bad start to our weekend. BEWARE! You may suffer an impromptu policy change. We will NEVER choose Candlewood again.

The place was nice and all but room service comes once a week and when we didn’t know that so we told the front desk and asked for more towels, she looked at us like we were crazy for asking for clean towels. There wasn’t breakfast which was a bummer and the parking was limited because it shared a parking lot with another hotel. It was also a loud hotel; you could hear people talking and doors shutting. Over all the room was clean form what we could tell but it wasn’t an awesome stay.

The property itself was good for the money. Our check in experience was pretty hectic. We checked in fine and went to our room. The bathtub had hairs, soap scum and the mirror was not cleaned. We asked for the tub to be cleaned and no one was available to do this. I went to front desk and she was very apologetic and offered to move us. I did offer to clean the tub myself for a possible discount on the room. She moved up instead, we got all of our things and the room keys didn’t work. We had to go back down, and get new keys. When we got to our new room, there were some small hairs in the tub. At this point we just dealt with it. But overall the rooms were clean.

Hotel policy is that they only service the room once a week. I've stayed at other IHG properties before where that policy was in effect with linens but they still serviced towels every day. Not here. Disappointing for sure. Room smelled good upon entering but needed a vacuuming and one of the beds seemed as if it had not been changed. The one recliner chair in the room was torn badly in three places (wish I could post a picture I took). No continental breakfast was a let down too. I will look elsewhere if the need ever arises again.
