"Nice room and great amenities"
This was our fourth stay here in the last year. We only stayed one night this time as we were on our way home from Nashville and wanted a quick stay in Gatlinburg. Last time we stayed here, a hotel employee was overzealous in her monitoring of the pool and she was so dictatorial that my children asked to leave the pool because it 'wasn't fun'. And, no, my children were not disobeying the rules or being excessively loud. They were the only children there with several adults who appeared to have been drinking and those people complained about my children. Anyway, we chose to give this hotel another try as it is a nice place to stay. We reserved a family room, which has a K bed and four bunk beds in two rooms plus a half bath for the kids. I had requested city view and we did get that, which was very nice. The pool area was crowded with lots of children playing and having fun...that's the way a pool should be! We ate dinner out in Gatlinburg, as we usually do. We did have breakfast buffet at the hotel restaurant and it was good. The omelet station is very nice and there's lots of fresh fruit in addition to the standard eggs, bacon, gravy, oatmeal and variety of breads. My children love the cookies from the front desk and my oldest asked the front desk for another cookie when we arrived back from dinner. The front desk employee was not exactly friendly and gave him a skeptical look and, wordlessly, gave him a cookie. Unless she's making them herself and has a personal interest in the cookies, she should've been more friendly and less sullen, in my opinion. The front desk person who checked us in was the same person and was not terribly friendly to me either. When I asked about a luggage cart, she pointed to the front of the hotel and said 'the carts should be there'....she never looked up while doing so. And, there's the most frustrating issues with this hotel and one that we've dealt with each time we've stayed. there simply aren't enough luggage carts! They have a bellman who helps but he guards those carts and it's difficult to get one. We sent my son to the lobby to get a cart when we were checking out and after about 25 minutes, my husband went down to find that, even though my son had politely asked, carts were being given to adults who were put in priority ahead of our 12 yo son. So, my husband told the bellman he needed a cart and one was given to him within a few minutes. That's the complaint I have with this hotel...they need to improve their luggage service and availability. Overall, we had a good stay and will most likely stay again, mainly for the family rooms.
