"Best Price in Area"
This motel had the lowest price in the area by far. Unfortunately you get what you pay for. The room I had was close to the street and the noise was deafening all night long. The staff was friendly and accommodating and the room was very clean. Not what I'm used to but I was not willing to pay 250/night for a decent hotel elsewhere which would have also been further from the people I was visiting. So I am thankful for this motel and would stay there again. I paid about 90/night.

"Will never stay anywhere else!"
My oldest daughter was expecting a baby so I spent 2 weeks here. Had not done a place without a bath in room so was expecting a bit of a drawback, but I was sure wrong! The place is quiet, clean, and the bath facilities were not a problem. One of my other daughters has a degree in Hotel Management so I had some "insider" knowledge of how things run on the "other" side of a stay. I dealt mostly with Kathryn, the General Manager, who treated me like a friend and anticipated and took care of my every need... including calling me back promptly when I emailed and said I needed to come 5 days early. That was CHRISTMAS MORNING, by the way! Cristina or Ines faithfully checked on me every day for any room needs I might have. Vicente greeted me so pleasantly when we saw each other as he meticulously went about his duties. Isaac even rustled my VERY pregnant (pacing the floors) daughter and I some oranges for a snack late one night. Joan Fiona, Heather, and Corinne welcomed me and were always available if needed. The breakfast spread was delicious and the BEST thing ... NOT rushed... even often stayed out a bit past "quitting time" for slow risers. Hot water, a tea set up and a guest refrigerator allowed for anytime snacks. I spent time in the library telecommuting or skyping with my littlest daughter at home missing mom. The place feels like a home, not like a hustle bustle hotel. I even made some friends with other guests which is not something I do at other chain hotels. Chain hotels are great but not home-feeling like this one. My rate here was better than what I have paid before at an inexpensive chain hotel. With a daughter, son-in-law and now TWO grandchildren a couple of miles away, this will be the ONLY place I ever stay again when visiting!

"Fire Marshals special - a Chicago oddity"
I have stayed here many times and that is why I booked my room this trip. The front desk staff was helpfull and found a cost effective solution to the lack of overnight parking at the hotel ( all spaces taken ) They also helped me print documents that I needed the second day when I could not find the originals. The real discomfor in the stay was the location of the room and the lack of sleep this time. The door into my room was actually inside the stairwell, something not allowed in any other city I have ever been in. This is one of those grandfathered situations allowed in Chicago where fire safety enforcement sometimes takes a back seat to historic facility conditions. THe problem with having the door to your room in a stair well is that people dont feel they have to moderate thier voices when they are togeather in the stairs, and some folks stood outside my room late at night talking probably not wanting to do so in the main hallways. It was the St Patricks day weekend an there were way too many groups returning a bit drunk late at night, and shouting "see you in the morning" as they tromped up the stairs. But if you make sure you don't get a room on the stairwell, the rooms are comfortable and the hotel is convinent to the north side attractions. Just be sure to ask for a room on the hallway.

I've always enjoyed my stays here. The staff is great and the location is outstanding. Parking can be difficult at times. Highly recommended for gay travellers. Straight guests may feel less comfortable, but only because of the location.

"Loved the quiet neighborhood setting. "
Stayed overnight with girlfriends. Had great rooms. The staff was more than accommodating. I have and would continue to refer people to this property. One of the best places I have stayed in a long time. I will stay here from now on and stay out of the congestion of the city. Parking was very reasonable, which is hard to find.

"Convenient older hotel-good value-would stay again"
We chose to book here for the first time for a short stay due to it's location and price and were not disappointed at all. The lobby is nice, free breakfast good(enough choices to satisfy all) - great breakfast place a few doors down if you prefer full service.Did not use the parking but the listed price was good for the area.No coffee maker in room but coffee is available(& tea/ hot choc) in the lobby all day.Prices for the min bar and small bites menu were very very good. Wifi access constant and strong. Staff was friendly and helpful at all times.Tiny elevator altho there was a wait only once while hotel fully booked (stairs-only 4 stories).Train access (useful red & brown line) fantastic. The room was a good size (deluxe double room with 2nd sofa area)and clean. If we had had the number of occupants allowed there could have been a lack of storage. Bath was clean and a good size. Water pressure could be better. Needs better lighting.Conscious of other reviews we still opted to stay in the room offered which was as close to the El as one of their rooms can get since they were allowing us to check in quite early. Having lived in major East Coast cities we wanted to see how it compared to usual city noise. If you are not used to constant train sounds it could be an issue. We did not have a major issue but in the future would request a room on the other side simply b/c it would be more quiet. No noticeable street noise otherwise.Nice area.

"Great stay with a neighborhood feel "
I can say this without reservation or any fear of embellishment, this is true: staying at the Majestic was one of the most enjoyable hotel experiences I’ve ever had in my life. I knew when the Uber driver approached the building that we were in for a treat! The hotel is an old-style apartment building nestled in a residential area. When you walk into the building you will not see a typical hotel check-in counter. There is a desk with chairs. You will be cordially greeted during your smooth check in. I was told there are different sizes of rooms, and if you want a particular size you should call directly and well in advance of your trip to secure the larger rooms. We stayed in a small room, like, nearly European room small, but it felt old-timey and actually quite cozy! Another unique thing was the snacks on the table and drinks in the fridge. It’s junk food, but there’s a variety. Best of all, it’s all actually reasonably priced! Even the wine and beer in the room is not your normal exorbitantly priced hotel mini bar. Breakfast is served every morning, and the host of the meal is a gentleman named Dan, who is incredibly friendly! In addition to his warm welcome every morning, he is also willing to provide fascinating amounts of detail about the neighborhood, Wrigley Stadium, and the city of Chicago in general. He will help with directions, restaurant recommendations, and local events. Free wifi makes a great place even better! Bottom line: this hotel is a must!
