Excellent hotel near the Old City

Pros: Great location, fantastic breakfast buffet including made-to-order omelets and a variety of food items, some of which changed from day-to-day.
Cons: The concierge appeared to be on duty only in the morning. This mean that we could not get advice regarding local restaurants when we needed it.
Location: The neighborhood lacks the glamor of modern Dubai. This means that nearby restaurants have low prices and lack tablecloths. Haggle in shops!
After living in a ship cabin for three weeks, it was a pleasure to have a little space in the room. The hotel is across the street from the Dubai Museum, which is definitely a worthwhile place to visit. To get to Deira, the old city, one must ride a water taxi across the Dubai Creek. That costs a mere 1 Dirham, and you need to have small change. I was pleasantly surprised to find that everyone, not merely hotel personnel, spoke English, so communication was easy.
