"Everything great except for first impression"
Stayed for business at the convention center down the street.  When the car dropped me off from the airport with all my luggage I was excited to get into the hotel and go to sleep after a grueling day of flights.  The driver placed all my luggage on the front curb.  It was a Friday night and many people were walking around dressed up for the evening leaving and entering the hotel, I stood there disheveled with all my luggage waiting for a doorman or a bellman to greet me or at least acknowledge my presence.   There were 2 workers in sight, one I could see inside and another outside that literally walked right past me going back to the building.  Really?  he could have said "Hello, Welcome" or "I'll be with you shortly".  I'm not sure what he was doing, no one else was standing out there coming or going with their luggage.  I finally left my luggage at the curb to go find someone to help me.  I walked up to the main door where the bellman that walked by me was standing and said "excuse me, can I get some help with my luggage?"  He said, "oh, OK", went down and grabbed it and gave me a ticket, that was the extent of our conversation. Once I walked through the doors into the hotel and up the stairs, a man was the top of the stairs on his way out and saw me hauling my carry-on luggage and asked "Can I help you with that, do you have anymore luggage?"  I explained I did and no one was helping me and I had to track someone down to help.  He apologized for that, pointed me in the right direction for the registration desk and said a welcome and enjoy your stay.  The check in was pleasant. I heard the check-in conversation next to me, they were given a room that was just updated. I was hoping I would be given an updated room as well.  Just as good or better, they upgraded me to the Club level floor, not an updated room but great amenities with the lounge and all.  The room was nice but definitely could use an update.  The hotel is elegant and historical.  It is however under renovation so there is some scaffolding on the outside, construction going on and you do see some changes being made in the lobby area.  The Club lounge was very pleasant and it was great to have snacks and beverages available especially since I had no desire to go out and just wanted a quick bite and go to bed. It was also handy to have a concierge in the lounge as well. Comfortable bed and pillows, which was wonderful.  The free wifi included with the room was a plus as well.  Overall the staff were very nice and helpful, I was happy that it was just the initial arrival that was a big disappointment.  I expected more from this Fairmont as I would at any other higher rated hotel.in regards to a greeting upon arrival.  I have stayed at other Fairmont Hotels and have had positive experiences so it was definitely a big disappointment when I was standing there in the evening, curbside waiting for a greeting and help. Just goes to show you how important first impressions are!

    "Good value for location"
We stayed at the Moda Hotel Downtown for four nights during a major race weekend in Vancouver. This hotel is definitely older and lacks the space or amenities of a newer hotel.  I would recommend staying here if you do not plan to have a car during your visit - parking in downtown Vancouver is very expensive, and is not included in your hotel price. That said, the location was great, the staff were very friendly and the price was a good value. We had a comfortable and quiet stay and felt very welcomed at the hotel.

    "Great location, clean and friendly"
This hotel was located within walking distance of many popular tourist areas. It was a 2 minute walk to the metro station, and only a couple blocks from Rue Sainte Catherine. You can easily walk from the airport shuttle stop to this hotel as well. The room was a lot bigger than the average hotel room and very clean. The new renovations are great! Staff are friendly and always asking if they may help with directions, offering a map, etc. I will be staying here again for sure!

    "Close to perfect!"
Reservation people, concierge, housekeeping et al are uber service oriented.  Room was small but extremely clean with upscale amenities, plus the bed could not have been more comfortable!   We had three meals in the hotel:  Les Voyageurs and Le Montréalais Bistrot-Bar for dinner... a tad pricey however the over-the-top cuisine made up for it.  And, room service with a movie one night was was also A-1.   Beautiful work out area with pool and sauna.  And did I mention Fairmont LeReine has the most awesome location in Montreal.  :o)
