A personal & affordable place to stay!

Pros: Close restaurants, Quiet
Cons: No free Internet
Chandra has a great place running here. It was not busy at all when I visited, so I had the whole place to myself almost! Rooms are quaint, comfortable and clean, and I loved having my own private veranda at the front of the little apartment. Chandra was really helpful with advice and services in the area. Her cooking was AMAZING. She cooked me an Indian vegetarian feast, felt like I had a personal chef! The private beach is small but nice if you want to sunbake without interruptions. This is definitely the place to stay if you're looking to travel on a budget and to have a more personal experience than staying at a huge luxury hotel (and you can just sneak into their beachfront bars and deckchair areas without actually being a guest anyway!).

This hotel is a great find and home base to explore from

Pros: Close restaurants
Cons: No free Internet
great value for the money - Chandra and her puppies provided a great home base if you really want to explore barbados - we rented a car for three days to explore the east and southern sides of the island - highly recommend a trip to Batheseba for lunch and crane beach - most beautiful pink sand any where - Harrison cave and the nature reserve were really cool and a nice break from the sun and sand - Angler gives you everything you need - take advantage of the yellow buses - only $1 US and you are in holetown where there are some great restaurants and bars We loved this island, our location and Chandra - if your traveling here - this is a gem

Great value!

Pros: Close restaurants, Quiet, kitchenette, private beach
Cons: stairs to private beach, no public computer & printer
Chandra is a wonderful hostess and excellent cook. She made sure we had everything we needed. The dogs, Jake, Amy, Lennie, Cocoa and Frisky provided lots of entertainment. This is the place to go if you like simplicity and dogs.

Our favorite kind of vacation accommodation

My husband and I were looking for a beach vacation without resort trappings: some place both beautiful and real. We found exactly what we were looking for here: a smallish room without frills, but perfectly adequate for our needs, with a kitchenette and bath, everything in working order, a small (shared) patio where we could hang out and read in view of lush foliage, right across the street from a little beach that really was as beautiful as advertised (and overlooked the sunsets over the Carribbean), and centrally located so we could flag down passing buses or even walk to the nearest town. XYZ the owner, adds a personal touch with fine home-cooked meals (we got to try local specialties, like the sweet potatoes that grow on the island in profusion, which we didn't see on any other restaurant menu), helpful tips (her initial introduction to the island's highlights proved the only blueprint we needed to find exactly where we wanted to go), and practical assistance like producing a rental car or a diving trip. If you want a picture-perfect room with brand-new furniture, this isn't the place for you, but if you want a home-like welcome to the island and a great base for exploring, at a truly great price, we couldn't recommend it any more highly.

A pleasant stay at the Angler's

Pros: Quiet
Apartments in Barbados, this stay was for 19 days: Feb. 4th to the 23rd. The owner/manager Chandra goes out of her way to see that This is my second year in a roll that I have stayed at the Angler you enjoy your visit and takes a great deal of pride in her apartments. The landscaping and tranquillity is surreal and the beach is across the street as well as the buses to travel around the island. Chandra will cook meals to order for her guests and I certainly enjoyed the option after a hard day at the beach.

Beach apartment with all the right amenities

This was our second time staying at Anglers--we stayed here for the first time 6 years ago and loved it. You are welcomed into a gated compound by ABC, the proprietor, and her friendly dogs. The apartments are really island homey with bead board walls and ceilings and cheery curtains. All rooms have fans, but we opted for a room with A/C this time. Cold beer and water are pre-stocked in your room's fridge so you can start cooling off and relaxing immediately. Beach is right across the street. Free wireless internet is available, though reception is spotty. We decided to save money on food and took advantage of the kitchenette with its fridge, gas stove, toaster oven and kettle. If you don't want to cook, the garden bar/restaurant is perfect (featured in guide books). If you can brave the local bus system, there is a stop a few yards down the road that can take you to grocery stores and nearby towns. If you are even braver and rent a car, the west coast location is a great launch pad for trips to rum distilleries, beautiful public beaches and other attractions. XYZ can help you with anything from renting a beach umbrella to renting a car. It's a great alternative to the resorts that take you in and cut you off from the local feel of the island. Plumbing is a little old and the hot water runs off of a solar panel. Given this, hot water was temperamental at times. Considering the outdoor temperature, though, it wasn't really a problem.

Island Hospitality

I usually stay in high-end establishments and was initially thrown off by the no frills accomodations. However, after experiencing Chandra's warmth and hospitality, the down home atmosphere grew on me and I'm glad I experienced it. The location is wonderful..lots of rest. within walking distance and a great beach 2 minutes away. Getting around the island from this location is easy whether you are driving, taking a cab or public transportation. There are also 4 very friendly dogs that add to the atmosphere..If you are on a budget or just looking for clean, modest acommodations, this is the place to stay.

Anglers' Inn Barbados

We were uncertain about what this One Star hotel would be like. It is funky, but fun and gave a much better feel of the culture than the more expensive resorts. The owner is very nice and an excellent cook. The dogs were fun to play with as well. I would stay there again.

Affordable and friendly in a perfect location.

Stayed here for 8 nights in May 2009 and I have to say I am so happy that I picked the Angler apartments, as other reviewers have said if you want 5 star luxury then there's plenty of that on Barbados for $ a night and up but really you will have a better time here for a quarter of the price! Your host makes you feel like you're staying with your favorite Aunt, the one that's a great cook! The apartments are basic, clean, air conditioned and have full kitchens, cable TV and a small outdoor lanai. Eat at the restaurant to get a taste of mix of Bajan and Indian food all home cooked by her, fresh and to order, seafood is always a good option in Barbados. The private beach across the road is great. You will need a car and you should let them book this for you too as she can get great rates. One other thing to note is that has three wonderful dogs that she adopted from a local shelter, so if you're a dog lover like me this just makes the Angler even better, however if you don't like dogs this may not be a good pick.

Caring atmosphere, great food and beautiful location.

On my recent trip to Barbados I stayed at the Angler Apartments. The location is iseal for quick and easy access to the Capital city of Bridgetown and all the beautiful beaches just minutes away. I liked the fact that I had access to my own private beach (after receiving the keys to enter from management). Angler has its own restaurant specializing in mouth watering cuisines including vegetarian, East Indian and Caribbean dishes. Breakfast was a treat as well. The rooms were clean and included all the modern amenities including air-conditioning, running hot water and wireless internet service. I felt totally relaxed and comfortable there. if you're an animal lover there are 3 beautiful and loving doggies (who belong to management) at the hotel. I had a wonderful experience there and I felt that my every need was tended too. Thank you Angler for making my vacation as restful and peaceful as it was.
