"Great price, facilities, hospitality and location"
After reading several reviews earlier, I decided to try this hotel for my first trip to Cancun. I would say, I am more than happy with what I got. The hotel is great and the staff is quite customer focused. The all-inclusive part is really worth as they have great food and the chef can customize the preparation based on what you want. They have enough bars to make you walk the least to get your fav drink, no matter which part of the hotel you are and what you are doing. The beach is clean and the ocean waters are close to the compound, so you don't have to walk too much. We enjoyed releasing the baby turtles with our own hands several times during our one week stay, for which you would have otherwise paid elsewhere. There was an attempt to sell timeshare-like package but its all optional and no pressure. My special call out to their entertainment staff who did an excellent job in singing, dancing, and all other sorts of activities arranged free for the guests every night. The place is in the Hotel zone but not in that part where most of the malls and street shops are (like Riu, Pallazo, etc.) The disadvantage about this is that you got to take a public transit (very reliant and affordable) if you have to go anywhere outside the hotel. The good part is that, it is away from the noise and the typical marketplace crowd, so you can relax and enjoy your stay at the hotel. One really does not require to step outside the hotel as you can spend a whole week enjoying the hotel facilities like pools, bars, beach, night shows, spa, massage, etc. Tips are ofcourse optional, but do tip if you loved the service as the staff is really helpful and they try their best to give you the best comfort. In a summary here are the great and not so great things about the hotel - GREAT: a) Good beach, b) 4 pools, c) Courteous staff, d) All rooms (except lagoon viewing suites) have a full or partial ocean view, f) Good location, g) All-inclusive, h) High quality drinks I) Kid and family friendly j) Entertainment programs. NOT SO GREAT: a) A little away from malls, b) No shuttles to the city/malls c) No Mexican food option for night (day-time - you do have good Mexican options)

"Great first-time trip to Cancun!"
This place is huge and it took a full day to get our bearings and learn where everything is. My husband and I upgraded to VIP and it was worth it. We had so much fun on the lagoon lunch cruise included with our upgrade! We really liked having the VIP Club Lounge on the 8th floor for breakfast and cocktails. It was quiet and the food was good. Isaac took great care of us. He is outstanding. Having a personal concierge to make our reservations was great too. Nicole and Sandy were so helpful and easily answered any questions. The first night we ate at Wayne's Boots. It was fun watching people try to ride the mechanical bull but our steaks were not good so I don't recommend that restaurant. My favorite restaurant was the French, Sans Souci. The steaks were delicious and the atmosphere was very upscale. We sat by an oceanfront window at dusk and had an amazing experience. Juan was fantastic! This restaurant is adults only with a dress code. Great ambiance. The Mexican restaurant was really good and I loved the decor. Jose took care of us and we enjoyed our dinner very much. My husband's favorite restaurant was Fisherman's. The mahi mahi was good. The Italian restaurant was ok. Then there was La Palapa. That was where most people had breakfast lunch & dinner. Big variety, buffet style but with chefs at various stations cooking made to order items. Great view of two of the pools. There were a lot of kids here since this is a family resort and everyone seemed to be having fun.

"Great hotel, friendly staff. Great vacation!"
We have been to the Grand Oasis Palm before and it was even better this time. If you plan to stay here, definitely spend the extra money to stay on the Grand side of the hotel. On the Grand side, you have a different wristband which gets you an additional restaurant, private beach, private pool, flat screen TV, nicer rooms and a very nice lobby bar. Also, if you are on the Grand side, there are waiters on the beach to take drink orders. If you are on the Grand side, you can use all of the options and restaurants on the regular side where all of the action (sometimes loud) is happening then return to the more quite Grand side. We ate at all of the restaurants and loved them all. Our favorite is La Bamba on the beach for dinner and the Grand side restaurant for breakfast. Sushi bar for lunch is great too. For the money, you can't go wrong here. Keep in mind that this is mostly a family and couples resort so it might not be the best place for singles or for meeting other singles. If you want to go to the flea market or the Mexican Outlet, take the R-2 bus on the other side of the road for $1.00. If you don't want to be hounded by timeshare people in the lobby, tell them up front, that you do not plan to leave the resort and they will leave you alone. Security is good. We saw a few people who had too much to drink and the security seems to pop out of nowhere and deal politely with any potentially bad situations while staying out of the way of the guests. I highly recommend this resort especially if you have children. Have fun! This place is great and we will return!

"Great value for the $$"
My wife and I booked this hotel based on other reviews and were not disappointed in the least. We had a clean room with a decent bed, a decent view and overall I give it a 4/5. Decent food, excellent staff, a great pool and beach area too. I definitely say to upgrade to at least the junior suite like we did. Apparently the other rooms are not as nice. When we checked in they offered us a discount on an upgraded room but weren't pushy about it. We politely declined and they were more than happy to continue the check in process. Rubi was our pool server and she was amazing. She memorized my wife's drink request day one and even made suggestions based on that. Our drinks were always full and she even brought fresh ones a little early when she would go on break so we wouldn't be without. Jonathon of the entertainment team was great too. He organized water volleyball daily (which I love to play) and always had a lot of energy and was willing to do whatever he could to make the stay more enjoyable. He even changed the music by the pool when I mentioned it was a little on the depressing/slow side. Jesus at the beach bar was great too and gave us recommendations on where to go buy some vanilla and tequila cheaper than the hotel. My only complaint is something the hotel has little to no control over and that is noisy neighbors running up and down the hall and slamming doors. I feel like if this is my only issue, it was a pretty good stay

"Good price for the place"
The hotel shows age but seems to be taken care of. Nice room, clean and comfy bed. We had a nice ocean view, quieter than the street side. The courtyard is nice and the pool attractive. Nice beach. If you want to experience those little pool side enclosed mattresses, get up early! The hotel is a bit far from the excitement but we had a car rental. Worth it. Internet is free and wireless but weak. Overall, great deal and recommended.

"Best hotel I've stayed in - def plan to return"
My husband and I stayed here for our 5 year anniversary trip. The room was huge, clean, and even included snacks and drinks in the fridge as well as bottles of alcohol that were replenished daily. The facilities were great and we felt safe on the gated property. The wifi was decent outside of the room, but very spotty within. We tried all of the restaurants; there were a variety of options and the food and service were good, especially at the breakfast buffet. It wasn't obvious to me that you had to stick a card in your door to request housekeeping service so even though we didn't put up the Do Not Disturb card and stayed gone all day and afternoon, the room still wasn't clean when we returned. It wasn't a problem after the first day but I think the housekeeping card you put in the outside of the door deactivated the room key because I had to go to the front desk to get my key reactivated at least 6 times during our 4 day stay even though I kept it in a zippered pocket with no other credit cards. All of the staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful (especially Patricio). I did have one unpleasant conversation with Luis who was dismissive when I inquired about the rates to extend the room an additional night. (He informed me to call Travelocity as if I couldn't afford to pay the standard hotel rates.) But, everyone else was wonderful and they decorated our room with roses and left champagne and fruit for our anniversary, which was a great surprise.

"Great Stay at GR Carbie"
We actually got upgraded to stay at their sister hotel right next door... the GR Caribe. It was a very nice surprise. With the upgrade you could take advantage of everything both hotels had to offer. We had an incredible room with an ocean view on the first floor. The whole experience was incredible. The staff is so nice and accomodating. We were never once asked or pressured about a timeshare or anything like that. There are about 4 restaurants in the Caribe... a beach patio called Bogavanate (incredible food and view), a fancy restaurant called Veneto (Aaso incredible food), a breakfast area with made to order omelettes and such, and a "Snacks" bar next to the pool with great "Snack Bar" style foods all day. I never went hungry. Room service was also free. Great quiet pool, great beach, and everything. Special thanks to Hector who cleaned our room, Gabby for inside bar entertainment and drinks, Rick who showed us around, and our pool waiter whose name I can't quite remember. BTW, not sure why there are some reviews saying the food was bad. That's ridiculous. I don't think McDonald's has an all-inclusive resort yet, but when they do, maybe you should stay there instead if you are that picky.
