Wow!!! What a great find

This is a great resort-great location, nice service. It was like I was on a cruise ship-no need to leave the resort. The weather was perfect-rained during the night. I would highly recommend this resort to friends and family. Already making plans to go next year, and stay here. Please don't read into other negative reviews-I'm picky and this was a great stay.

my negative experiance !

Posted Sep 9, 2013
My family and I stayed at Barceló Tucancun, and had a negative experience. Customer service was the worst I have experienced in they years I have traveled. Our reservation was All-Inclusive however the food was not all that good, the buffet was the same food all 7 days. (No variety ) No food is allowed out of the restaurant area. Room service was not provided daily, I had to call in several times to have clean towels brought to our room. the pool hours state they are open tell 10:00pm yet staff closed the pools at 8:00pm and would give no reason as to why. Per my negative experience I will never stay at a Barceló Hotel again.

Look somewhere else before booking here...

Posted Aug 26, 2013
If you’re choosing this hotel in order to save money, look somewhere else. This place will nickel and dimed you to debt(jaja). Example, there is no complementary WIFI, not even in the lobby or pool area in a city where the WIFI is free in the shopping mall, local buses (R2) and the ferry to Isla Mujeres. Also almost unheard of is that they also charge you for the lock to the safe box inside your room at $3 a day. And if you want to weight your luggage it will be a $1. When you check-in they will point that your room is not facing the ocean and if you want to upgrade at additional cost.. If you’re lucky you will not get the room above the laundry station like we did, overlooking a parking lot with lint in our sandals. There are some comments here about recycle food from previous meals, that is true. If there is a oriental night a the buffet, expect to see some Chinese food the next day. There is a line for breakfast since they tell you that it will be a 15 minutes wait, but if you look inside there are empty tables (this is a self-serve buffet). There are two household toasters for 2 slices of bread in a room of maybe 50 people…a little detail that they want to save money on you. Again, if you want to save money, look at another place, one with better services and food for a little more money or go to one that is not all-inclusive with good services and option to dine inside the hotel or outside(support the local economy).

Better than I expected

Posted Feb 21, 2013
Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, all inclusive, close to shopping, activities/entertainment
Cons: No free Internet, high currency exchange rate, locks for safe is additional charge, balcony bright light stays on all night
This was my first time at this hotel. Hotel overall was pretty clean. Hotel bathrooms could use attention more frequently. Staff was friendly, not as fluent in English as I expected though which was somewhat frustrating. All inclusive buffet looked much better than it tasted. We never felt satisfied and went out for meals a lot. However, the wait staff was very friendly and helpful. I recommend you convert your currency to pesos prior to arriving at resort. Resort currency exhange rate is extremely high. Everything costs extra such as safe locks, internet, etc. Pools and entertainment was fabulous. Definitely made it enjoyable and not boring at all. Beach and ocean was breathtaking. Definitely will continue to come back to this resort!

This place was wonderful going back in 2 months.

Pros: Free breakfast
Cons: No free Internet
I was pleasantly surprised with the Hotel. I booked this trip last minute without any knowledge of Mexico. Boy was i surprised. Cancun is beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Barcelo Hotel was fantastic. The hotel grounds are immaculate. The rooms are very clean. The staff could not be nicer. The food was delicious!!!!!! I am going back as soon as I can!!!!!!! Fair warning book any excursions through the Hotel only. This way if there is a problem a rep from the tour guide is in the building. A+++++++++++

"Tu" Can't Lose

Posted Nov 19, 2012
Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, amazing all inclusive food!
Cons: No free Internet
I went with lower expectations, and Tucancun really delivered! From the most gorgeous, sandy, white beach to the large, comfy room with enormous shower & ocean view (without an upgrade), to the sweet bartenders, waitstaff and entertainment staff, you really can't lose. The meals in both the buffets and full service restaurants were top notch, with choices too numerous to specify, including fruits, veggies, meats, fish, baked goods, ice cream and specialty drinks! The pools were wonderful and warm, and you could even get coffee and pastries in the all night bar if you are up before breakfast begins! We also loved the poolside activities including bingo, darts and volleyball. The meals are so well prepared and delicious, you'll think you're in a fine dining restaurant, but at a bargain price! Just go, you won't regret it!

Good Value

Posted Mar 11, 2012
Pros: beautiful beach, short order cook, mall is right there, easy access to bus
Cons: No free Internet, room decore could use updating, dinner food verity
Stayed here for our 15th anniversary. The food was fine (breakfast was very good there's a short order cook for eggs in the morning + buffet & hamburgers/hotdogs in the snack bar in the afternoon + buffet). Not all the staff speaks good if any English but since it is in Mexico that's okay. Everyone did their best to understand and accommodate. The rooms could use new bed spread decor and curtain update but everything is clean. The pools and spa are very nice... contrary to a prior review the beaches here are BEAUTIFUL and very large, you can walk for miles in either direction and plenty to lounge on. Internet is not free but we were here to unplug and relax so no problems. The show dancers are some of the best I've seen in any resort. Be for warned that Mexican data fees are EXTREMELY high so be sure to check with your provider BEFORE coming to Mexico.
