Great bed for sleeping; not a place to hang out

Posted Jul 29, 2015
Pros: Beds
Cons: Tiny bathrooms - probably cannot be improved.
Location: Very close to The Common and the Theater District.
This is a great old hotel close to The Common. With a queen-sized bed, the room size was fine. The bathroom is very small - one person at a time - and minimal lay-down space. We were there to visit family, so for a place to shower and sleep, it was fine.

Nice Hotel

Posted Jul 26, 2015
This is a beautiful hotel in close proximity to the park, shopping and dining. This is a very upscale area so prices are higher. The hotel is older and more posh, but very clean and welcoming.

Overpriced for no reason.

Posted Jul 25, 2015
500.00 a night for a room that had chipped paint, old furniture, stinky carpet, cracked ceilings and a bathroom that still had 20 year old tiles with a home depot bathtub.. its crazy how overpriced this hotel is

Old hotel room

Posted Jul 10, 2015
Pros: LOcation
The hotel lobby was very nice and comfortable; however, the room was very run down and cramped. Electrical outlets bad. Bathroom very old.

Nice hotel - surprising fees and airport transport

Posted Jul 3, 2015
Pros: History - staff
Cons: clearer indications of fees and explain the transportation
Location: Yankee lobster was great!
Never knew that internet was paid by the minute. Also we were under the impression there was airport transportation provided by the hotel. This was not true. Had to take a cab.

Close to the T and Boston Commons

Posted Jul 2, 2015
Arrived early, room not ready, forgot phone at home = immediate check in and upgrade. Great start! A few blocks for dining, shopping, wandering the Commons. Doable from Logan on the T but lots of steps in an older transit system. This is an older (1924) property, ie, the rooms are on the smaller side (my bathroom was tiny!) but it is clean and well kept with a friendly staff. I thought the price for the room was high but Boston is clearly an expensive city. I would stay again.

Hotel is nice!

Posted Jun 19, 2015
Pros: Lobby
Cons: Room sizes.
Location: Short walk to Boston Common, Loews movie theatre and downtown for shopping. Arlington subway station 50mtrs away. Great location!
Lobby, restaurants, reception, concierge were all nice and friendly. Building looks fantastic. However, the rooms with queen bed were tiny. The bathroom was the smallest I have ever seen 3' * 6'. No exaggeration! Location of hotel is great. Easy walk to the Common and downtown. Right beside Arlington subway line. Easy to get around.

Terrible Room

Posted Jun 19, 2015
Pros: Nice Staff
Cons: The room we stayed in.
Location: Close to the Subway station, Nice location in town.
Hotel staff was very nice to deal with. Our room was tiny, we hardly had room to walk around the bed when our suitcases were on the floor. We couldn't even open the doors of the "closet" all the way because there wasn't enough room between that and the bed. TV stand was in the corner of the room in an odd position for watching it. Bathtub had a crack in it which allowed the floor of the tub to fill up with water. Couldn't fit more than 1 person in the bathroom at a time, or have the door open when trying to use the sink. I was throughly disappointed in the room. On a positive note we were busy enough with other activities so we didn't have to spend to much time there which was a blessing.

Nice hotel, great location

Posted May 30, 2015
Pros: We loved the location and the cleanliness of the hotel. Also the staff was very friendly and helpful
Cons: The elevators were full much of the time as there was a convention and several high school class groups staying there. Need more elevators
Location: We went to a concert at Symphony Hall and it was 3 stops on the subway. the park is within walking distance as is the theater district and china town
l, We initially had trouble finding the entrance to use with a valet for your car. I phoned the concierge and she led us right to it. She was wonderful during our entire stay with maps and recommendations. The hotel is being remodeled, the lobby is beautiful with a bar/restaurant in the lobby. We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast buffet in the lobby, and a nightcap after returning from the Boston Pops concert at Symphony Hall The subway stop is across the street from the hotel so easy to get around.
