GREAT LOCATION

Posted Mar 24, 2015
Location: Quite a lot to do within walking distance of the hotel.
Great location. Hotel was nice (I'm sure even nicer once all the renovations are done).

Christmas Eve

Posted Mar 24, 2015
Pros: view, quietude.
Cons: Amenities.
Location: It was Christmas Eve, and this usually vibrant part of town was completely dead.
I realized upon arrival why the price was so low. There was construction going on, and few amenities were available. The gym was a few pieces of equipment in a regular hotel room. No pool. No hot tub. I was lucky though, and had the room with the good view. Was it 1595? Something like that.

Great hotel central location

I stayed there at Xmas. The room was very comfortably furnished and the staff were extra helpful. I want to return there. Great location central to Back Bay and theaters.

Killer location for moderate price.

Hotel lobby under construction. Great location. Wakable to Beacon Hill, Back Bay and downtown. Oversized room, comfortable bed. Less expensive than neighboring hotels.

Perfect location

Posted Dec 1, 2013
We stayed for the weekend (Fri to Sun.) It is only a block to the Public Gardens and Boston Commons. Could also walk to stops for city trolley and duck tours. Hotel service was great and food at the onsite restaurants was good. We got a petite room, which would have been adequate for one person but was cramped for a couple. Although well decorated and with a comfy bed, it was smaller than cruise staterooms we have had. Would definitely stay there again, but in a regular hotel size room. Warning - if travelling in late fall or winter - Boston weather can be cold, the city wind will chill you through the warmest coats, so add layers.

Desperate need to renovate

Posted Nov 7, 2013
This could be such a nice and quaint hotel as well as historic, but wow, they sure need to renovate.  Especially for paying that much.  The room was very small, as in most large cities, but when it was as run down as it was, it was the worst place we stayed in our trip up the New England coast (staying in five hotels).  I actually LOL'd when I went to get into the shower.  I'm an average-sized 200 lb guy, but the shower was narrower than I was!  The shower curtain was draped over one side of me as I showered!

so disappointed

we have stayed here many times but this was totally embarrassing. i booked this one night reservation for relatives from florida and virginia to celebrate my daughters 40th b-day, and they had no toilet!!! the first time it was used it overflowed and they had to use the bath tub until they checked out in the morning. a call to management got no response, so sad to say!

not impressed

Posted Oct 30, 2013
The first thing I noticed was the small cramp sized room and bathroom. The heater was blowing "cold" air and when i called the front, they said the heater starts working from 9:30 pm. It was COLD!!

Do not stay here

Posted Oct 29, 2013
We arrived to check in at 11:00 at night and were told that the hotel was overbooked. The agent informed us that they could give of a room that was part of a suite but had a pull out couch. He said the room was large. It was 11 at night. We didn't care how large the room was, we cared about the bed. The agent went away, came back and told us that he found  a room with a bed. We went up to our room. Reeked of cigarette smoke and mildew. The mattress had seen better days, indented in the center as if a large man had slept there for 20 years. Clearly this room was out of commission and they never should have let a guest stay in it. It was midnight at this point and all we wanted to do was sleep. So we did. They clearly did not have a suitable room so why complain. After dry cleaning our clothes, twice, after we got home, we realized we would have been better off stating on the couch. Our friend's couch. For free.

Decent Stay for Quick Trip

Posted Oct 23, 2013
The ride to Boston took more time than it should have, so I can only comment on the few hours I was there.  The staff was very nice. The doorman was kind and directed me to where I could get junk food at the late hour I had arrived.  The room (Plaza Petite) was clean and neat-- small but perfect for one person spending the night, maybe two if they are a couple snuggling and not staying too long, as there is not much storage space. I was on the 9th Floor. Things I liked that people will appreciate: --kind and friendly staff --clean room --restaurant on site --proximity to MBTA, right down the block (green line) --proximity to South Station, which was about a $6 cab --location in Boston, right by the theater district Things that some people care about but don't really bother me: --building is kind of old, so there are some cracks and discoloring in places --the view from my room was of a brick wall --concierge is only available until 9PM -- there was a wedding rehearsal party going on; I imagine you felt the noise on the lower floors Things that actually bothered me: --couldn't figure out the thermostat, as my room was freezing... eventually just turned off the air --there was an evacuation of the hotel due to what was a false alarm, but when we got downstairs, there seemed to be no one offering information as to what was happening or what to do next... very disorganized --there are hardly any channels on the television, and some of the ones listed did not work. --you have to pay $12.95 for 24 hours of Internet in your room (the lobby is free, which explains why it was so crowded) Overall, a decent stay for one night. I basically checked-in, slept, and checked out.
