Beautiful old building with modern rooms

Pros: Large rooms, location (close to city centre train station but within old city), beautiful original building (cloisters).
Cons: Maintenance of details (toilet odor and stability, faucet setting, light switch for balcony lights) and clear directions to parking lot.
Location: Just inside gate in old city wall across from city centre train station. Walked to Les Halles, Palais des Papes, and Place d'Horlage.
We were 4 older women friends and stayed in two rooms. The hotel is a very lovely setting hidden behind very unassuming entrance. The rooms were very modern but had minor maintenance issues (rocky toilet in one room, slightly smelly toilet, rocky faucet, and balcony light which was on at night and switch was not apparent, necessitating turning off all the electricity to the room. In addition, the coffee pot did not work in one room but was immediately replaced when reported to the front desk). The rooms were very large, clean, and well- furnished, with a patio balcony containing a table and chairs as well as desk and sitting areas. The public areas are spacious and simply grand.

Beautiful building with most courteous staff.

Pros: Ambience is quite appealing, especially in the middle of touristy Avignon.
Location: Convenient to Palais des Papes and Musee du Petit Palais, which houses a huge collection of early Italian painting.
Perfectly located just inside the walls of Avignon, with a very good restaurant and charming rooms, especially those facing the courtyard, which have a nice view of the courtyard through big windows. There's a lap pool on the 3rd floor of the newer wing.

Romantic hotel served as base for south of France

Pros: Everything.
Cons: Nothing/
Location: Centrally located. Papal Palace & Avignon Bridge in Avignon. Pont du Garde. Les Baux. Arles. Cassis. All are day trips.
Lovely romantic hotel with attentive staff and delicious dining. Tasty breakfast buffet and superb lunch & dinner.
