Staff and grounds were exceptional; too much noise from the road and neighboring rooms; food at Sugar Club was meh, at Carmichael's excellent. Given the lack of direct beach access, wish there were more pools and the current ones bigger.

Very Disappointed!

Pros: Very clean rooms. It had a lot of amenities.
Cons: Service and offered an option to be in a room with no cats, especially if you are allergic.
Location: Very nice location close to restaurants, stores and beaches.
I stayed at this resort from the 14th of June through the 17th of June. The resort has many amenities and very clean and well maintained. However, during my stay we could not enjoy the outdoor balcony area. there were about 6 stray cats that lived under our unit#8. You could not open the doors for long or they would try to come into the unit. Try eating outside it was a nightmare. The cats would swarm you while outside on the balcony trying to relax. Lets discuss housekeeping, the first night no one came to change towels or make up the room, we left for the whole day and came back to the room how we left it. Then when i called to request fresh towels I was then greeted every morning with a trash bag full of towels thrown onto the balcony. I have never stayed at a place at this price and received such poor service. Don't stay in unit 8...It is a nightmare especially if you are allergic to cats. Needless to say we made the best of our stay. I had reservations to stay from July 28th-July 31st that has been cancelled.

Sugar ridge antigua was amazing

We booked an all inclusive stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable and stocked. The check in was professional and made us feel special. The grounds were gorgeous with many different flowers and fruit trees. We had a deluxe king with a plunge pool. Unfortunately the jets never worked even though we mentioned it twice. It was still nice on the veranda and spacious. The staff were friendly especially our favorite, Jojo! Meals are served at the sugar club 3 times daily. Choices in the menu could have been better. Especially lunch. But overall tasty food. The waitstaff and bar staff were professional and friendly. The aveda salon and spa was wonderful. Relaxing and exactly what you would expect from aveda! I have zero complaints. Just some comments. So here's why I give it a five star rating: the atmosphere, the staff, and the rooms are exactly what we wanted. Private and romantic but also fun and social with the entertainment they provide. Absolutely loved our stay.

Very friendly staff, beautiful rooms and views.

We were very happy with our week at Sugar Ridge from the moment we arrived. The staff was very friendly, accommodating and willing to please their guests. The entertainment in the Sugar Club as well as the food were wonderful. The two pools and lounge areas as well as their amazing Aveda Spa were perfect and easy to get to from our room. All rooms are built into the side of the hills with lovely views. One can walk down but usually need a ride up as lots of steps. Always drivers there to bring you up. Carmichael’s is a fabulous restaurant at the very top of the resort with spectacular views, delicious cuisine and a lovely patio with lounge areas and an infinity pool! Great bar that serves cocktails by the pool. Shuttle 4 timrs a day to a few different and gorgeous beaches. Walk to many great local restaurants on the marina or beaches. Minutes from Jolly Harbor! We highly recommend this resort.

Great life experience!

Pros: Service
Cons: Entertainment activities (granted that I was there during low season)
Location: Miracle's, a bar and restaurant nearby, is super recommended. Try the lobster
Everyone at the hotel was super nice! The food at the Sugar Club was good and the breakfasts were amazing. The pools are very well kept and the hotel helps you find taxis to move around and offer shuttles to take you to nearby beaches. Nothing to complain about!

What a vacation!!!

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, amazing view!, close beautiful beaches
They make it very easy to get around the island with beach shuttles and drivers for hire. The staff strives to make your stay as entertaining as you wish. Most visitors were honeymoon couples, we were two single woman that were in search of a peaceful, relaxing vacation - mission accomplished! Our visit was off season so there was a smaller staff, translation - takes time to get things like ice to your room. If you keep mind that you are on "island time" you will not be disappointed on your stay. Opt for the breakfast plan.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

Pros: Free breakfast, Free Internet, Quiet
The staff was wonderful. The food was delicious. The view from Carmichael's at sunset is a must. Vorn was extremely helpful and knowledgable about what I had to see and experience while in Antigua. I had the best time with Eli and his Extreme Adventures crew. Thanks to the Sugar Ridge staff for recommending it.

I travel extensively, and this was an unbelievable value!!!!!

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, private hotel nearby driver service, lovely brand spanking new rooms built 4 quality
I love smaller high-end properties with great character, of course amenities and staff are important too. This "boutique" hotel had everything I like, excellent huge rooms with canopied beds, huge terrace and private plunge pool, amazing view and location, private shuttle service in the Land Rover to town and nearby beaches (Von is the man, and I suggest you take care of him, he'll show you the island and help with dining options). The on-site restaurant is absolutely fantastic, so don't miss out. Breakfast in the well-designed clubhouse by the pool is great, I recommend the appleGerman pancakes, fantastic! The pool is swank and just big enough, the lounge chairs of beautiful design. The gym is great, and for a touch of home, Aveda has a great concept salon, so don't bother doing it up at home, enjoy the salon at the Clubhouse, relax, sun, and then head to one of the many great restaurants on the island if you want to explore. Mind you, when I went,many of the other guests were travel writers or agents or savvy Europeans that love a more boutiques setting. If you want a big hotel club med scene this isn't it, but then Antigua has 300 or so beaches, so you'll usually be in pristine quiet surrounds, often with a quaint local restaurant serving freshly caught fish, and Von will take you to and fro. By the way, the mable floors in the rooms and bathrooms were spectacular! Enjoy Antigua, I'll return to Sugar Ridge soon for sure.
