"Great Beach Hotel"
It is within walking distance to the beach and has a great view from the roof. The rooms are a bit worn which means you don't worry that much about tracking a little sand in with you. The front desk people are young and helpful. Breakfast is quick and easy. This is not a B&B.

"Location to Gas Lamp and Seaport Village is great"
I had stayed in La Jolla and wasn't ready to leave by my departure date, so I quickly went on line and found this great hotel in the heart of the Gas Lamp district. I'd recommend it more to the 21-50 age group who are there to have a great time without kids. It's a hotel that caters to having a great time.

"The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly"
First, the good. The hotel location on the bay cannot be beat! After arriving, we took a short walk on the promenade, saw some crabs on the rocks, and took a ferry ride over to Coronado. We walked around Seaport Village and had a chocolate covered apple and browsed in a few shops. On the way back, we ate at Joe's Crab Shack. Ok, now for the bad. After reading other reviews, I knew we would be asked about upgrading to a bayfront view. When I originally booked, I chose a bridge view. But, after arriving, we were offered the $20 upgrade to a bayfront/city view, so we went for it. We were put in room 1109 and were told that the big Comic Con sign on the side of the building would not block our view. Got to the room and there was the big black screen blocking our view. Went back to front desk and moved to room 1865. Beautiful corner room with windows all around! In my opinion, the bridge side would be nice too. The Dole plant had a huge ship there which was kind of cool to see. The Ugly-after a long day at the beach, we came back to find the AC is broken. We had to move rooms again! Note, this was our third time moving rooms. It wouldn't have been so bad, but it took them forever to bring the key. It was midnight, and we had to do this with our young son. Finally, get in room, and found urine in the toilet, a cup filled with old coffee, garbage, and pillows on one bed smashed down like someone had been laying there. Eww! Manager comped one night, but still...

"Beautiful relaxing hotel"
Wonderful place to stay in the San Diego area.  Quiet, lovely gardens, nicely decorated, modern, but with an old world feel.   Restaurants: only ate there for breakfast.  Had the French toast and fresh squeezed orange juice, and my husband had an omelet; both were good.  Service was somewhat slow, but I was not in a hurry.  My view during breakfast, of a lovely fountain and garden, was worth lingering over.  Prices are too high, including paying 2.50$ for the coffee!  They give you free coffee in the hallway, but if you sit down, it is not free! Ha. Grounds: this is a beautiful setting, very popular for weddings and events. But the weddings were not noisy and did not interrupt my stay.  At night everything is beautifully lit, and scented candles create a lovely ambiance.  This is the best smelling hotel I have ever been to; flowers and herbs along walkways smell delightful, as well as the candles.  Stroll the garden paths for a relaxing walk. Everywhere you walk seems intimate and inviting.   Pool area: very nice.  Drinks and food are severed at the pool.  Lots of seating and also cabanas if desired. Rooms: nicely done. I enjoyed the tangerine accents and the muted neutral color scheme.  Beds are comfortable, done in all white, which I prefer, so that anything undesirable can be obviously seen (and there was nothing undesirable- very clean). Sheets were a bit scratchy, not the softest.  That would be my only suggestion for an update: higher thread count sheets.  I slept fine though.  Bathroom was clean, and roomy, and the shower head had a good flow.Tea and coffee in your room, complementary waters, newspaper, and wi-if (there is a daily use fee, so technically not free, but you pay the fee either way)
