"Good hotel for NYC but a little out of the way."
The hotel is great - spacious room (for NYC), nice views from the room, lots of action with the UN next door. The staff are friendly and helpful. The only downside is it is a little off the beaten path for sightseeing (which I knew when making the reservation).

"Great location, close to subway and attractions"
The DoubleTree Metropolitan was an easy 30 minute taxi/cab trip from JFK (recommended). The 51st E subway station was also just outside if you are adventurous enough to catch the train from the airport. Upon check-in hotel was clean and comfortable. We even received a cookie upon checking in, and free cookies were handed out in the early morning. This was a nice touch. The queen bed sized room was standard, and the bath room was large. However, the shower was designed for hobbits with the shower head fixed at hip height. While we hope that we were the exception, our room service/cleaning was really poor. Our room was often skipped, or was serviced after 5pm (after we returned from a day of sightseeing). The front-of-house hotel staff were rude and refused to add our stay to our Hilton HHonors because “we booked via a 3rd party site”. This was the first time we've heard this. Lastly, after checkout and settling our account, our credit card had a two extra pending authorizations that we never authorized. These were in addition to the initial authorization for incidentals upon check-in. While we would recommend this hotel, we do so purely because of the location.

"Clean, comfortable and quiet stay."
Nice hotel; small with very nice lobby. issue is that you are not that close to midtown business area or Times Square for recreation. choice is a lot of cabs or long walks.

"Everything was great!"
Everything was great!  The entire staff was not only professional, but very personable and accommodating. From the doormen, to the bell hops to the front desk staff and the concierge staff...excellent service!!  My husband and I were celebrating our 23rd anniversary and we were graciously upgraded to a suite near the top floor, as well as complimentary champagne with chocolate covered strawberries and they even through in breakfast one morning!  Very classy!! Kimberly was fabulous!  Upon our return to NYC, we will definitely be staying at The Benjamin again!!!  Double thumbs up to all at The Benjamin.....you truly made our anniversary in the Big Apple a memorable one!!  Thank you for everything

"This hotel gave us comfort"
We recently stayed at the Fitzpatrick Grand Central Hotel after returning from 3 weeks in Europe. Hiking no less, so we arrived looking a little worse for wear after also flying all day from Rome to NYC. Those working at the check-in desk didn't even glance at our condition. We excused ourselves for looking disheveled and they didn't care in the least. We were treated like with the utmost respect and everyone was extremely helpful. Our room was fabulous as was the surroundings. Being across the street from Grand Central Station was an added bonus since we had a train to catch the next evening. The hotel kept our traveling gear locked up during the day after checking out so we could walk around on this beautiful day. We travel to New York often from Oregon and have done so for many years. This is one of the best hotels we've found. New York is like a second home to us and our hearts go out to the people dealing with this new disaster. We wish you all well at the Fitzpatrick Grand and to New Yorker's everywhere.

"Beyond Awsome!!"
We traveled as a family of six.  I have visited Manhattan several times and this hotel was by far the best I've seen.  The room and bathroom were extremely large!  The room also had a large kitchenette area.  Our room had two comfy beds and a sofabed that our teenage children actually fought over (not the typical sleeping on springs sofabed).  We had a roomy sitting area with a large coffee table we were able to use for eating.  The staff was exceptional!!  Our youngest child looked forward to returning to the hotel each evening to hear "Welcome Home" & receive his daily high five from the doorman!
