"Beautiful relaxing hotel"
Wonderful place to stay in the San Diego area. Quiet, lovely gardens, nicely decorated, modern, but with an old world feel.
Restaurants: only ate there for breakfast. Had the French toast and fresh squeezed orange juice, and my husband had an omelet; both were good. Service was somewhat slow, but I was not in a hurry. My view during breakfast, of a lovely fountain and garden, was worth lingering over. Prices are too high, including paying 2.50$ for the coffee! They give you free coffee in the hallway, but if you sit down, it is not free! Ha.
Grounds: this is a beautiful setting, very popular for weddings and events. But the weddings were not noisy and did not interrupt my stay. At night everything is beautifully lit, and scented candles create a lovely ambiance. This is the best smelling hotel I have ever been to; flowers and herbs along walkways smell delightful, as well as the candles. Stroll the garden paths for a relaxing walk. Everywhere you walk seems intimate and inviting.
Pool area: very nice. Drinks and food are severed at the pool. Lots of seating and also cabanas if desired.
Rooms: nicely done. I enjoyed the tangerine accents and the muted neutral color scheme. Beds are comfortable, done in all white, which I prefer, so that anything undesirable can be obviously seen (and there was nothing undesirable- very clean). Sheets were a bit scratchy, not the softest. That would be my only suggestion for an update: higher thread count sheets. I slept fine though. Bathroom was clean, and roomy, and the shower head had a good flow.Tea and coffee in your room, complementary waters, newspaper, and wi-if (there is a daily use fee, so technically not free, but you pay the fee either way)
