"Frustrating at first..."
One staff member was working at the desk when our party arrived. We waited at least 20 minutes to check-in. There was a convention at the hotel the weekend we stayed. One would think that the Sheraton would have ensured there were plenty of staff members to keep things flowing smoothly. After our 20 minute wait at the desk, we ended up having to pay for a taxi to take us to our first reservation of the night. Otherwise, we would have been late to to an event that we had already paid for. The toilet in our room also ran constantly and the drain in the tub was clogged. The cafe in the basement of the location is highly over priced. Two plain bagels and two bottles of water were $14. Overall, the rooms are clean, spacious, and comfortable.

"iIt wasn't my best Palmer House Experience!"
I was really excited to take my fiancé to the Palmer House in Oct. 2014 because I had such a great experience there in July 2014. I called ahead to have chocolate covered strawberries and champagne delivered to our room prior to check in and that didn't happen. This was very disappointing we were celebrating his birthday! We ordered beverages in the lounge in the lobby and there was a cap to a soda bottle in my glass. When we shared this with the server he stated that they don't use bottles there and implied that maybe we put the cap in the glass! I have never been insulted in such a manner! Fortunately we spoke with a front desk manager and he listened, demonstrated professionalism and offer us an adjustment on our accommodations which lended to a happier ending.

The bed was comfortable. The room was quiet. The staff was friendly and helpful. We did observe some inappropriate guest activity so I would not recommend this to someone planning to travel with children. We parked in the self parking lot and it was expensive but it was in line with other lots in the area.

"Fabulous Location, Great Room with a View"
Boutique hotel, with modern, well designed rooms and very comfy beds. Our room had a picture perfect view of the city. The room was small, but we were only there for sleeping and dropping off shopping bags. Great hotel for the price in a perfect location for a weekend in Chicago.

"Meh."
Not even remotely close to a Vegas experience. Not even the restaurant experience. If you took away the one rock-artifact from the lobby (a guitarist from Styx has a guitar and an iridescent silver jumpsuit on display), you'd be hard pressed to think this has anything to do with the Hard Rock name at all. It's an Art Deco building converted into a hotel. And while it was nice and quiet in a very basic room, it was generic, and the so-called musical finishing touches in room (song lyric quotes etched into the mirror, and a black and white photo of a rock star was the room decoration). Walking through the halls, it looked like an office building. The bed wasn't terribly uncomfortable, but it wasn't anything to rave about. Television has a sound bar. The iPhone dock supports the 30-pin iPhone (and not the lightening connector), so using the iHome alarm clock to hear your own tunes may require an adapter. The location is somewhat middling to out-skirtish: it was an easy walk to Millenium Park or the Art Institute, and a somewhat easy walk to the downtown Loop train, or the Blue line (which gets you to the airport). Can't say that I would readily recommend-- it was adequate, quiet and in an accessible location. The per-night rate was high given this hotel's okay-ness.
