"good value for the price"
We stayed here over Labor Day weekend 2013. The rooms was small but clean - it looked like it may have been recently updated. The pool is nice and the staff was friendly. Great location if you are not afraid to walk!!

Wonderful stay. The desk clerks were very helpful although they had a somewhat difficult time of understanding my English questions.

"Fantastic"
The Hotel was all that the pictures showed it was.  We had a great room on the 15th Floor looking out onto the Capitol Building - Room 1517 - Deluxe Double - Will definitely go back to this Hotel.  We were 2 Blocks from Union Station, so you could take the Train in and walk to the Hotel or take a short Taxi Ride.  Staff was very friendly & helpful.

"Very convenient location"
The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was as ordered with two beds, quiet at the end of the corridor and ready for occupancy when we arrived at 3pm. The beds were comfortable and everything was fresh and clean though the bathroom could have been a bit larger with more counter space. We ate in the dining room and the food was very tasty and not over priced. The table staff were a bit inexperienced but very anxious to please. The roof top bar is an oasis away from the street with a fountain playing great spot for the younger crowd later on in the evening. There should be a card with instructions for the TV stations available and the air conditioning was rather noisy .I would happily stay there again. It was a short walk to the Metro and there were a few other places of interest in the vicinity of the hotel. Construction is something one has to live with in any large city so does not bother me. I prefer smaller hotels to the larger chains.

"Beautiful Historic Hotel!"
My wife and I had our wedding reception at this beautiful hotel in May of this year. The staff was wonderful to us and our guests. The rooms were beautiful! The views were fantastic. Just a short walk to the Capitol and Union Station right across the street. Our wedding coordinator, Tracy Zahn, was amazing. Our wedding reception and our stay at the Phoenix was everything we ever imagined. They made such wonderful memories for us. If you are having a wedding or an event, Tracy Zahn, makes you feel like you are her only priority. She is passionate about what she does. Our guests just raved about the food. Everyone who works on the catering/event team really took care of us and our guests.

"No stress!"
My mom and I had a terrific weekend in DC staying at the DoubleTree Crystal City. The property is clean, the short shuttle to the airport and the metro is reliable and convenient, and the staff was pleasant and helpful. We would go back in a heartbeat.

"Friendly staff...great view"
Stayed at this hotel for a weekend getaway with my family and loved it! The staff are all extremely friendly and kept everything clean.  I requested upon arrival a room with a city view and was given a room on the eleventh floor with a view of all of Washington! The indoor pool is also very clean and very warm. We received a parking pass and never had to pay. They also have a free shuttle bus that runs every 30 minutes that will take you to the metros pentagon row. We never used our car the whole vacation. I would stay again for sure!

"Great for the price"
We wanted easy access to DC and a comfortable room at an affordable price, and that's what we go. Our room/the hotel was clearly older, but the room and the pool area were both clean. Because we stayed midweek, food was served at dinner. We happened to be there at that time for two nights, and both the barbeque at the pool and the buffet (chicken with peppers, pasta with eggplant, pasta with sausage), was very good. Our only complaint would be that the hotel asks that you call them when you need to be picked up from the metro station. (Rides in the morning leave on the hour, but you have to sign up). We called as we were pulling into the station, and had to call an additional two times while waiting. It took about 40 min to be picked up.

"Great location, good price"
I picked this hotel because of it's proximity to Union Station and the Newseum, where I had to attend an event. My room was clean and comfortable and the staff was cheerful. The breakfast was much better than any free breakfast I've had at comparable places. But you do have to leave the hotel and walk around to the other side of the building to get it.  The big disadvantage, which I encountered on the way to my event, is that because it's a small hotel, there are no cabs around. If you have to go to somewhere in formal dress (heels!) you will not find a taxi easily and should ask them to order one long before you need it.  If you are in any sort of rush, you'll be frustrated by the fact that the staff is small, dealing with multiple travelers, and the wait for a cab is loonnngg. They are kind, however, and that goes a long way with me.

"Convenient and fair value for the DC area"
The hotel was convenient to FedEx Stadium without being in DC proper. It is an older hotel but it was fairly clean. They pride themselves in being 100% smoke free and charge a hefty surcharge if you are caught smoking anywhere in the hotel. However there was a whole group of people smoking cigars and cigarettes just outside the lobby door and the smell wafted into the lobby anyway. There were no closets or dressers in our room; just an armoire/entertainment center with a small space to hang clothes. The bathroom was clean although the towels a bit threadbare and there were only 2 towels, hand towels and washcloths. Parking was plentiful with a well-lit underground garage. Hotel is in a center with other businesses - 24/7 IHOP- which makes parking a little more difficult. They do offer a free breakfast buffet from 630-930 M-F, 700-1000 SS. However all the food was cold when we went to eat at 730 on Sun. there were NO decent places to eat in the immediate area ~ only fast food ~ Burger King, Wendy's, KFC, etc. We had to drive to Bowie or Largo 15 min away for decent restaurants with steak or seafood. But it was convenient to the hwys, a decent value for the price and we were only there for the weekend.
