"Great hotel. Very cute, welcoming staff, and right on the water!"
This hotel exceeded my expectations. I was very pleased with the amenities, cleanliness, and ambiance, especially given the low price. Only complaint is that the walls are a bit thin - noise from the room next to ours definitely traveled.

"Good Reasonable Honest Nights Stay"
I would not call this a resort, but a clean reasonable honest hotel for a night’s stay. We were visiting our freshman child at UCSB from San Francisco Bay Area. We have stayed at the very expensive and some very disappointing resorts in Santa Barbara. My hotel snob wife very much approved of this hotel. It was very close to UCSB and right along Goleta’s fast food and mall road. This isn’t always a bad thing, if you are not in town to tourist. If you are visiting Santa Barbara for vacation, I wouldn’t stay here, it is too far from the tourist “stuff”.

"Great stay at the Petersen Inn!"
We stayed at the Petersen Inn during Solvang's Danish Day's celebration. It is located in the center of town but it is very quiet, peaceful and relaxing. We really had a great stay and will definitely return. Everything about the Petersen Inn was fantastic & we highly recommend this hotel.

"Fabulous Staff"
The Santa Barbara Hyatt was the Hotel Mar Monte. This is a quaint old hotel with a great location. The beach is across the street and the Zoo is very close. The hotel and the room were very clean and well maintained. The only negative was the very noisy wall air conditioner. We decided to leave the sliding door to our room open instead and slept great after that. Every staff person we came in contact with was friendly and professional. Be sure to visit the Bistro with Martin in the dinning room and James in the bar.

"Lovely oasis"
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit at the West Beach. Our room was quiet, well appointed and very clean. The view, looking through the garden out to the sea was gorgeous. We enjoyed the delicious pastries, and fresh fruit in the morning sitting at the table and chairs outside of our room. It was perfect. The location by sea gave us the opportunity to ditch the car and walk to restaurants, shopping or on the beach. Ultimately relaxing! The only complaint I have is that the pillows were very soft, which is probably just my personal preference of a firm pillow. Free internet is a super plus!

"Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Wine and cheese were delicious and plentiful;"
front desk staff were all very friendly and helpful; wines and cheeses were delicious and plentiful; cookies and milk were a nice touch; breakfast was ok; free coffee and tea all day; bicycles were readily available and included; easy walk to beach; room was large and very comfortable; again can't rave about the staff enough (just a great staff);

"Nice place to spend the night"
We stayed one night and weren't in the room very much but when we were there it was very pleasant if a bit cramped. They put a lot of furniture in a rather small space but the big wall of window and sliding glass door helped make the room feel brighter and the breeze the door let in kept away the weird, antiseptic hotel smell some places just can't get rid of. I really liked the louvered windows set up high on the bathroom walls. Left open during a shower, the window kept the bathroom from getting stuffy. I also liked that the quilt on the bed was a cotton quilt rather than one of those strange scratchy polyester wonders I run into in most other hotels I stay in. We were on the ground floor with a large sliding glass door facing the pool courtyard. There were a couple of patio chairs and a little table on a small patio outside the sliding glass door and we did sit there at one point, watching as our 16 month old son piled rocks on the table. One thing to be aware of, they have old fashioned wall heaters and our son couldn't leave it alone. We didn't turn it on and it didn't appear to be dangerous but it is there so if you have kids you know at one point it will become the center of their universe, even if only for a few minutes.  The grounds are well kept, the staff friendly and we didn't have any concerns, questions or comments so our interactions with staff were mostly nods and hellos.  I was disappointed that there wasn't a free continental breakfast but there was fresh fruit in the room, a couple of no charge bottles of water and a tiny bowl with a few pieces of candy. There was also a dorm fridge and a small microwave. The fridge is nice if you need to store baby food, milk and a bottle of wine, which we did. There is also the standard remarkably small coffee maker on a tray with mugs I contemplated stealing because the handles were huge and comfy to hold onto. I did not steal the mugs because that may have led to bad hotel karma and I don't need that.  We didn't eat in the restaurant next to the hotel and my husband described the bar as dreary (hence the bottle of wine). The neighborhood is nice, trader joes's is a quick drive away and so we were well pleased with our experience.

"love this hotel!"
My family has stayed at this hotel twice and we love it! The rooms are just fine, and it feels welcoming since it is a relatively small hotel. We love the location (a short wallk down the street to the beach, and a short walk to State St. with many shops and restaurants), and the free bike rentals are so nice! Perfect for riding down to the beach especially since Santa Barbara is so bike friendly. We would absolutely reccomend this hotel!
