"Terrific location, wonderful staff"
The Sarnic Boutique Hotel is a great location! The hotel is on a street where you can shop for all sorts of items, go to many restaurants, plus you can walk to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, the Grand Bazaar, and the tram. The tram takes you down the hill to the Topkapi Palace and Dombachi Palace. Management staff is so helpful! They show you on maps where to go, and have great suggestions for day and evening activities, so you can plan your activities when you arrive. Or, you can email Sarnic ahead of time to ask about activities. Plus, many restaurants and activities will pick you up at this hotel. Uniquely, Sarnic offers a 4 hour Turkish cooking class in their kitchen, with 6-10 people, which was awesome! You can sign up by going to their website and emailing when you want a class. You get the recipes and afterwords they serve you what you cooked for a late lunch.
The hotel is very comfortable. This is one of the few non-smoking hotels in Istanbul. There is a nice couch area in the reception and a computer to check email. There is internet connections in all the rooms. We traveled in January and it was well heated. The rooms are clean, there are heated bathroom floors, but some towels could be a little fluffier. Be aware that any hotel within walking distance of the Blue Mosque does hear the morning prayer call - which is pretty neat.
You get a traditional Turkish breakfast downstairs in the restaurants. This includes dried apricots and figs, yogurt, sliced meats and cheeses, olives, sliced bread, boiled eggs, honey, jam, nuts, coffee and tea. The yogurt with honey, nuts, and apricots is yummy.
