"Cute Hotel, Interesting Location"
Hotel Bijou is a cute, small boutique hotel that suited our needs for our trip to San Francisco. The rooms were not large, but they were clean and bathroom was fine. The beds were not the most comfortable, but not terrible either. We were there for 3 nights and never able to connect to the WiFi for more than a second, which was frustrating, luckily we did not have much business to do on line at the time. The one thing I wish I have known, although it never became a huge problem, was that hotel is on the edge of the Tenderloin District. What that means is that the neighboring blocks, including the block that the hotel is on, is SWARMING with homeless, alcoholics and meth addicts. I am not exaggerating when I say that there could be as many as 30 of these people on any given block, which was a bit alarming and shocking. It was like NYC back in the very early 80's. We had no issues or real encounters with these people, but we did not spend much time in that area. It is a short one block walk to Union Square area and the cable car and bus. Right around the corner is MikkellerBar at 34 Mason St, which serves good food and many different varieties of craft beer. I think it just opened 4 months ago in a large warehouse type space. Also the BEST Vietnamese restaurant, Tin Vietnamese at 937 Howard Street, is just a few blocks away and should NOT be missed. We ate two meals there and thoroughly enjoyed every bite!

"Basic clean room worth the price"
Other reviews about cover it. Nice place, clean, helpful staff, close to where I needed to be. The only down side is it's right at the fringe of street people "camping areas" but then again that's San Fran for you. That's what you get along the entire tourist strip. I felt safe, so that was not an issue.

"Great stay!"
Apparently recently renovated. Common areas and rooms looked great! Very comfortable and well appointed. Rooms are really small (with common hallway restrooms and showers) but very well laid out. Relatively quiet for a downtown hotel. However, there is a "car exiting" warning device outside the building associated with the garage behind the hotel. It goes off constantly. If this is an issue, be sure to stay away from rooms near the north side of the building.

"Nice Place!"
Great location two blocks south of Market - short walk from the Civic Center Bart Station. Room was very nice and surprisingly quite given the busy streets in the area. My only complaint was that the mattress was extra firm, which some might not mind, but I found myself waking with a few aches. I will definitely consider staying here in the future. Very friendly and helpful staff.

"Decent Price Hotel in SF"
Overall this hotel was a decent place to stay. It is in downtown and you get a typical downtown setting. But the rooms were acceptable, clean and comfortable, the price was good for SF and there were numerous places to eat within walking distance. It also had free on-site parking which is a big plus for SF. Overall I would recommend that if you are looking for a decent priced hotel with comfortable rooms - this is a good choice - but be aware of the fact that you will be in downtown - and expect all that comes with being in a downtown location. I had a room for two nughts and my mother had a room for one night before checking into UCSF for surgery. Both rooms were clean and comfortable.
